Long sleeve or short sleeve?

  • THE LINEN SHIRT (long sleeve): straight, regular fit in a slightly heavier Somelos linen for year-round use. Button-down collar, chest pocket and a hem rounded front and back. In white, black, navy and army olive. Best for work, dinners, weddings and layering.
  • SHORT SLEEVE LINEN SHIRT: a normal to loose fit in soft Somelos linen with a slightly curved hem. In white, black and army olive. Best for holidays, the beach and hot city days.

Why Somelos linen?

Somelos is one of Portugal's most respected textile producers, with linen production dating back to 1958. Their linen has an even weave and a soft hand that gets better with every wash. The fabric is treated so it stays soft and keeps its size.

Details that matter on a linen shirt

A button-down collar keeps its shape even when the shirt is worn open, which is where many linen shirts fail. The rounded hem means the shirt looks right both tucked in and worn loose. A single chest pocket keeps the look clean.

How to wear a linen shirt

Blankdays is a Swedish menswear label founded in 2018 by Johan Lundell. The label makes a focused range of minimalist basics, designed in Sweden and made to be worn for years. For the linen shirts, Blankdays chose Somelos in Portugal for its even, high-quality linen, and designed the shirts with a button-down collar and a rounded hem so they work in more places than the beach.

Yes. Linen breathes, absorbs moisture and dries quickly. It is the coolest shirt fabric for summer.

Does a linen shirt shrink?

Blankdays linen is treated to minimise shrinkage. Wash at 30–40°C and hang to dry to keep the fit.

How do I stop a linen shirt from wrinkling?

You can't completely, and that is part of linen's character. Hang it while damp or steam it for a neater look.

Can I wear a linen shirt to a wedding?

Yes. A long-sleeve linen shirt in white or navy with chinos or linen trousers is a classic summer wedding outfit.
